The Secret of Living in the Present

Gallery Belka, Sofia Bulgarien

8 – 18 May 2025

The Secret of Living in the Present brings together ten artists from the Stockholm-based artist-run collective Studio44 for a group exhibition at Galleri Belka, Sofia.

The exhibition explores the delicate and often elusive state of presence — of being fully immersed in the now.

In a world that constantly pulls us toward the past or projects us into the future, these works pause time, inviting reflection, attention, and immediacy.

Through diverse practices and media, the artists open intimate and philosophical portals into what it means to live — truly live — in the present moment.

Artists each bring their unique gaze and sensibility to this shared inquiry.

Some works offer meditative stillness, while others pulse with the intensity of the now.

Materiality, memory, perception, and slowness are recurring threads.

The exhibition does not attempt to define the present, but to dwell in it.

It invites viewers to slow down, to notice, to breathe — to be.

The artists embrace the imperfections of time, the interruptions, the detours.

Together, they create a living landscape of attention.

Studio44, as a collective, is rooted in collaboration, dialogue, and shared artistic experimentation.

Their presence in Sofia is part of an ongoing commitment to exchange across borders — geographic, cultural, and conceptual.

In The Secret of Living in the Present, time is not linear but layered, sensuous, and subjective.

What if the secret of the present is simply to be here, now — together?
