Mariana Ekner works with the question of how identity is created and – questioned. Bl.a. in the debut exhibition at Galleri Periscope (1990), two faces are duplicated and copied until the individual self is no longer distinguishable. Together with Maria Backman, Ekner has created Enkel ticket about their mothers’ different experiences and memories as refugees during the Second World War; about how two girls from different war-torn countries were forced to flee, alone.
