Studio 44 opens the new year with In-betweenness, an exhibition featuring five of the gallery’s new members. The exhibition brings together artists at the most elusive stage of creation, the transition. In-betweenness presents works in motion: between material and body, between the visible and that which vibrates just beneath the surface. Nothing here is static. Everything is in flux. It is in the in-between that things happen.

The exhibition includes installations, painting, photography, sculpture, video, and jewelry art, as well as works that exist somewhere in between. The boundaries explored may be physical, political, personal, or entirely abstract. In the encounter between the artists’ differing perspectives, a multiplicity of interpretations emerges, in which the boundary can function both as a divider and as a potential opening.
