Gunilla Mauritz
In a process-oriented painting practice, I work with materiality as a foundation, where color, layers, shifts, and boundaries serve as tools to express existential states. Often, a tension emerges between what is visible and what is hidden.
After studying literature and religious studies at university, I pursued painting at Pernby’s School of Painting and Gerlesborg School in Bohuslän. I have also completed an education in art pedagogy with a focus on contemporary art at Konstfack.
My works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions, as well as in public spaces, art halls, and cultural centers.
I maintain a close collaboration with Smålands Konstarkiv, which is now part of Vandalorum.
In 2016 and 2017, I worked as artistic director and set designer for two exhibitions on Raoul Wallenberg’s work during World War II for Lidingö Municipality.
I am currently working in a studio at the Artists’ House in the Gustavsberg Porcelain Factory.
