As long as the moving boxes are still unpacked in the basement, no bridges have been burned, no final step taken, no memory spilled into the surroundings. And no future can begin.

We pick up the phone.
- Hello, is it the moving company? How nice. Can you move some boxes from Stockholm to Malmö?
- No, no, you don't have to unpack them. We and the exhibition's visitors do that on-site at the gallery down in Malmö.
- Yes, there are quite a few, around 18, I think. No, no, don't worry about it. Not all are unpacked. Some remain intact. Only gives off the dull rumble of something unpacked, what we tend to vaguely call history. Or sometimes: A future.

ABOUT SOUVENIRING FUTURES

Galleri Studio 44 is celebrating its 10-year anniversary as an artist-run gallery by going on tour. In the run-up to the anniversary, we have thematically focused on the physical and mental middle ground that arises when we are in equal parts in the future not yet experienced, and in the memory of what we leave behind. The first stop is CirkulationsCentralen in Malmö, where we now present stage one of the upcoming exhibition tour under the heading SOUVENIRING FUTURES.
At CirkulationsCentralen, it has been given the subtitle -In a box.
