SubReal, the title of my exhibition means the moods at hand while painting, appearing,
disappearing, some familiar, surprising others unwelcome, and disturbing. A happy
loving celebration may colour my mood for days, accelerating into fear and pain before
passing.
Living and working alone means a great opportunity to take a record of the eternal shifts of
mood, those drives for action after some bargaining and hesitation, those heavy with non-
desire non-acting. A friend performing in an orchestra produces light energy and happiness
despite the continuing, never-ending rain.
These paintings don’t mean to illustrate any mood of mine but the shifting scenery of my mind
mixed with colors and canvas are the raw materials, the landscape I’m treading as well as
the landscape around me changing between at least four seasons, the transformation from
flower to wet slime to dust.
